• GAAP film partnerships and sideways loss relief (for individual investors) and tax treatment of corporate investments into these types of scheme.
• Use of the ‘final policy year’ rules in respect of investment bonds to undo the tax consequences of a significant part surrender in a preceding policy year.
• The solution, using this rule to surrender the bond to undo the effects of a previous withdrawal subsequently saved the client £90,000.
